THINGS TO DO AND SEE
Local Shops - Amenities
The closest shops are at Woy Woy (5 minute drive from the house) for your groceries and basics:
• Deepwater Plaza (corner of George and Railway Street) has Coles, Kmart and lots of specialty shops. Take away Sushi in there is great and butcher Peters Meats very reliable.
• Peninsula Plaza - smaller shopping centre with a Woolworths, butcher, baker, pharmacy and newsagent at 63 Blackwall Road. The butcher is award winning and worth a separate stop.
Fishing
There is great fishing off the jetty or out in the bay and surrounding waters. The bay has lots of flat head and bream and other fish. In the Summer months there are lots of blue swimmer crabs in the bay (we use big hooks and large sinkers with mullet on a hand line and when you pull them up you net them just as they reach the surface). In the summer months you can also collect prawns at night from the water right in front of the house to use as live bait (shine a torch over the water and you will see their red eyes shine and just scoop them up with a net). We are collecting photos in the album in the long cabinet of great catches at the house – so send us your photos!
The Reptile Park
You will pass it on your drive from Sydney – it is a 10 minute drive from the house.
You can see crocodiles, alligators, spiders, snakes, giant tortoises and huge pythons as well as various other Australian mammals.

Brisbane Water Ferries
Run 75-minute scenic cruises of the waterway about a dozen times a day, stopping at Davistown, Saratoga and Woy Woy, contact (02) 4369 5066

Peninsula Leisure Centre
Woy Woy has newly built community Leisure Centre with an aquatics centre, sports hall, fitness centre, café and crèche. Great pools for all ages and great slide for kids on rainy day.

Erina Fair
Large shopping centre with Hoyts and Ice skating rink about 25mins drive away
Cinema Paradisio and Ettalong Markets

There are also markets there on the weekends with so many dining options and rainy weather activities.
Walking
• Scenic walk all around Woy Woy starting at public jetty and following coast line around point – along Brick Wharf Rd and then around the point through reserve on waterfront
• Great bush walks in the area – there are some bushwalking books in the cupboards.
• Walk along Umina beach is always a favourite of ours up to Ettalong and back.
Kids Playgrounds
• There is a small playground in the bay at the end of Taylor Street.
• There is a playground good for younger kids at Woy Woy in front of the Fishermans Wharf (The Boulevarde Rd) right next to public jetty.

• Our favourite playground for kids of all ages (from toddlers to late teens) is at Umina Beach (The esplanade, Umina Beach) and it is right next to the beach. The beach is a great beach for kids and adults alike.
